WHEN: During a Water Excursion or Creek Dipping
WHERE: Information will be in your pre-retreat information
WHAT: Watch children and adolescents swimming or playing in or around the water even if they know how to swim. Young children or inexperienced swimmers need to be within arm’s reach of the Water Watcher AT ALL TIMES AND WEAR A LIFE JACKET.

An appropriate Water Watcher is someone who...
- Is at least 18 years of age (adults preferred)
- Has the ability to recognize and rescue someone in trouble or can immediately alert someone nearby who has that ability
- Has a working phone to be able to dial 9-1-1
- Has the throw bag (in excursion backpack) in hand that can be used in a rescue
- Is alert and not under the influence of alcohol
