When we are faced with serious illness in ourselves or a loved one, the possibility of death and dying can become more real for all of us.
At The Still Place we have started a year long dedication to gathering monthly to discuss, study, discover, explore and wonder about finding a more thoughtful, peaceful death for ourselves and those we care for as family, caregivers and health care professionals. We welcome anyone from any path to sit in safety and reflect and share. Please note this is not intended to be grief or bereavement counseling. The topic for our next discussion is “Death Cafes”. Death Cafes started in Europe several years ago and have taken root in many US communities. Individuals, who often do not know one other, meet at a cafe for an hour or so to discuss death. Some discussion topics might include a person’s stories or experiences, fears, questions or wishes for their own end of their life. We will be learning about what these gatherings are like by experiencing our own “death cafe.” Facilitator: Michelle Holmes Light refreshments will be served. Please RSVP via email to [email protected]
